Help is available for students who were sexually abused, were involved in a prescribed sexual act or were the subject of a prohibited act involving child pornography by an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).
Students, parents, guardians and siblings can apply for funding to help pay some of the costs of therapy and counselling.
Here are a few resources to help you understand the program, eligibility criteria and the application process:
If you were sexually abused or involved in child pornography or a prescribed sexual act by an OCT, you may qualify for the College’s Therapy and Counselling Program which provides funding to help cover some of your therapy and counselling costs. Approximately $18,000 can be claimed. The amount is equivalent to what the Ontario Health Insurance Plan would pay for 200 half-hour sessions of individual out-patient psychotherapy with a psychiatrist.
To receive funding, you will be asked to submit necessary documents and receipts.
The College respects the sensitivity of these matters and follows high standards to keep applications and information related to the Therapy and Counselling Program as secure and confidential as possible.
The OCT will not be told about your funding application, except in cases where the College seeks reimbursement of fees from the OCT as part of their Disciplinary Committee hearing.
