The Ontario College of Teachers licenses, governs and regulates the province’s teaching profession in the public interest and to protect students. All publicly funded school teachers and administrators in Ontario must be licensed by us and be Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT).
The College regulates the teaching profession to protect students. Teachers in Ontario’s publicly funded elementary and secondary schools must be certified by the College, keep their membership in good standing, and follow the profession’s ethical and practice standards.

We only accept documents in English or French. If documents are in a foreign language, you will need to have them translated. This includes your teaching certificate and any supporting documents, such as a marriage or birth certificate.
Please include the original translation for any documents you submit yourself, such as proof of identity, a name change document, a teaching certificate, etc.
Note: if any of your documents were sent directly to us by a granting institution, such as a college or university, a copy will be mailed to you for translation.
Your translator must also work for, or be accredited by, one of the following approved organizations:
