The Discipline Committee ordered that the teaching certificate of Pouria Tabaeini be revoked for engaging in a prescribed sexual act. In criminal proceedings, Tabaeini pled guilty to, and was convicted of, one count of sexual assault on Person A. The Discipline Committee panel found that this offence was relevant to Tabaeini’s suitability to hold a certificate of qualification and registration.
This matter was disposed of without a hearing, in line with the Ontario College of Teachers Act and the Rules of Procedure of the Discipline Committee and of the Fitness to Practise Committee.
Tabaeini was certified to teach in August 2019.
The Discipline Committee ordered that Tabaeini’s Certificate of Qualification and Registration be revoked and that he receive a reprimand.
In its decision, the Discipline Committee stated, “The Committee denounces [Tabaeini]’s misconduct in the strongest terms.”
