Decision Summary - Developed by College staff

The Discipline Committee ordered that Geoffrey William Price receive a reprimand for engaging in repeated verbal, physical, psychological and emotional abuse of very young students during classroom interactions. It also acknowledged and accepted Price’s undertaking to, among other things, permanently resign as a member of the College.

During the time in question, Price was employed as an occasional teacher by the Toronto District School Board.

Price, who was certified to teach in August 2013, attended the hearing on November 14, 2025, and was self-represented.

Price’s misconduct included engaging in multiple physical and verbal altercations with students, such as:

  • Yelling in close proximity to Student 1’s face, grabbing him, carrying him first to the sink and then in one arm to a garbage can in the classroom, and telling him in an intimidating tone, “if you’re going to vomit[,] then vomit!”
  • Forcefully putting Student 2 in a chair in the back corner of the classroom and yelling in close proximity to his face, “only babies cry at school.”
  • Clapping his hands aggressively near Student 3’s face while telling her in a firm voice, “we don’t say ‘but’ to the teacher,” after repeatedly yelling at Student 3 to hurry up.
  • Pulling objects from Student 4’s mouth and yelling at him to “spit it out,” “stop putting things in your mouth,” and “I told you to stop chewing things.”
  • Grabbing Student 5’s arms and moving them to mimic dance movements in a video, after Student 5 refused to participate and then grabbing Student 5 and carrying him in one arm to the back of the classroom in a forceful manner, placing him in a chair, and yelling at him in close proximity to his face.

Price’s conduct caused students to cry, scared staff and other students in the classroom, and caused one or more students to experience adverse emotional and psychological effects.

The Discipline Committee panel found Price guilty of professional misconduct and ordered that he receive a reprimand. The panel noted that Price had also resigned his membership with the College, undertaking never to seek reinstatement or to work again in any position requiring membership in the College.

In their written decision, the panel stated that “members are expected to treat students warmly and with respect, and to avoid engaging in harsh verbal and physical reprisal of students.”
