The Discipline Committee ordered that the teaching certificate of Gillian Leigh Stayzer Boere be revoked for sexually abusing a student. In criminal court, Boere was convicted of one count of sexual exploitation in relation to this student.
This matter was disposed of without a hearing, in line with the Ontario College of Teachers Act and the Rules of Procedure of the Discipline Committee and of the Fitness to Practise Committee.
Boere was certified to teach in June 2010.
The Discipline Committee panel ordered that Boere’s Certificate of Qualification and Registration be revoked and that she receive a reprimand.
In their decision, the Discipline Committee panel stated, “Those who engage in criminal behaviour of a sexual nature with a student cast serious doubt on their ability to practice the profession without putting students at risk.”
