The Discipline Committee ordered that the teaching certificate of Colin Neil Ramsay be revoked for engaging in sexual abuse of a student (Student 1). Following criminal proceedings, Ramsay was convicted of one count of child luring in relation to Student 1.
Ramsay was certified to teach in July 2007.
This matter was disposed of without a hearing based on Ramsay’s prior criminal conviction and/or finding of guilt, in accordance with subsection 30.2(8) of the Ontario College of Teachers Act, 1996 and rule 9.03 of the Rules of Procedure of the Discipline Committee and of the Fitness to Practise Committee. The Discipline Committee panel ordered that Ramsay’s Certificate of Qualification and Registration be revoked and that he receive a reprimand.
In their written decision, the panel stated that it “denounces [Ramsay]’s misconduct in the strongest terms.”
