Lisa Sharon Levitan, OCT

Registration Number: 487314

Decision Summary - Developed by College staff

The Discipline Committee ordered Lisa Sharon Levitan to be reprimanded and directed the Registrar to place terms, conditions or limitations on her Certificate of Qualification and Registration for engaging in unprofessional conduct and bullying behaviour toward a colleague over several months.

During the time in question, Levitan was employed as a teacher by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

Levitan, who was certified in July 2005, did not attend the hearing on February 11, 2026, but was represented by legal counsel.

Levitan’s misconduct included:

  • Sending the colleague frequent emails in which she questioned how he was performing his role, suggested he was not effective, and directed what he should be doing instead, despite having no supervisory role over him.
  • Claiming to speak on behalf of the Jewish community when criticizing the colleague.
  • Referencing anonymous negative posts about the colleague’s performance from a Facebook group she administered.
  • Chastising the colleague in front of other staff on a number of occasions.
  • Sending an inappropriate message to the colleague’s personal phone regarding potential legal action.

The Discipline Committee panel found Levitan guilty of professional misconduct and ordered that she receive a reprimand. The panel also ordered that she complete a course on appropriate communication and interactions with professional colleagues.

The Discipline Committee panel further noted that although Levitan had also made several public social media posts, these comments were not considered in determining the allegations of professional misconduct and did not lead to findings of professional misconduct against Levitan.

In their written decision, the panel stated that “[m]embers must have the ability to exercise good judgment and act professionally towards their colleagues.”
