How? Send a completed Request to Update Registry Information form, with supporting documents as outlined, via email, fax or mail.

By law, Ontario Certified Teachers are required to keep their information with the College current. The public register must list full names (current and former, if applicable).

Please update your records with us if:

  • your name on the public register is different than the name you usually go by.
  • you seek to remove a former name from the public register.
  • you would like the College to recognize you by your common name.

Convert your Temporary Certificate into a General Certificate of Qualification and Registration

Do you hold a Temporary Certificate expiring on December 31, 2022, but have not yet converted it into a General Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR)?

If you have completed your teacher education program, please convert your Temporary Certificate into a General CQR.

You can also request an extension of your Temporary Certificate from December 31, 2022, to June 30, 2023.

Mobile App to be Decommissioned

As part of a sustainable and cost-effective strategy to re-allocate resources to expediting certifications and streamline the overall client experience, the College will decommission the mobile membership app as of November 14, 2022.

All services available via the app remain available in your member account at oct.ca. If you have questions about how to access the members account, including troubleshooting advice, please visit our FAQs.

Annual Meeting of Members Summary

The College’s virtual Annual Meeting of Members was held on the evening of Wednesday, September 28 and was open to all Ontario Certified Teachers, as well as applicants and members of the public to attend.

Interim Registrar & CEO Chantal Bélisle, OCT began by providing the audience with an operational update, including the launch of two important student safety and support measures, the online Sexual Abuse Prevention Program and the Professional Advisory on Anti-Black Racism.

The Interim Registrar also re-committed the College to further measures that will expedite certifications and enhance the overall experience members and applicants have when they contact the College.

Speaking next, Council Chair Diana Miles confirmed that the continued success of the College’s service improvement plan would be among Council’s top priorities during her tenure, while Audit & Finance Subcommittee Chair Jonathan Davey provided assurance that required investments would be handled responsibly and efficiently.

Finally, all three speakers answered questions that were submitted by the audience. Topics included governance, finances and application advice for internationally educated teachers. A full recording of the meeting, as well as answers to all submitted questions, are posted on the College website.

Profile: Diana Miles, Chair of College Council

Diana Miles is a lawyer and chief executive officer of the Law Society of Ontario.

She has been with the Law Society for 20 years, holding various leadership roles, including executive director, organization strategy and effectiveness, and also executive director, professional competence.

Diana’s term of office on Council started on January 1, 2022, when she was also appointed as Council Chair. She also serves on the five-member Audit and Finance Subcommittee of Council.
