What would you do?

Our investigation case studies series, What would you do?, is a popular educational resource for Ontario Certified Teachers. The cases could help to avoid potential risks on the job. The latest case study is as follows:

The College received a complaint regarding Louis, a high school teacher. It was alleged that he shared a personal anecdote with students that was demeaning to members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

He also allegedly made numerous culturally insensitive remarks, including making fun of ethnic and religious groups.

Sexual Abuse Prevention Program: deadline passed

The September 15, 2022, deadline for Ontario Certified Teachers to either successfully complete the Sexual Abuse Prevention Program or request an extension has passed.

If you have not successfully completed the Program, or were not granted an extension, your certificate and profile on the public register will identify the Program as Incomplete.

The only way to update your status to Complete is to successfully complete the Program, which can be accessed by signing into your member account.

Please note that provincial legislation does not grant the College the authority to provide exemptions.

Applicants for membership: Certification clarification

Current applicants are encouraged to review your document status page to ensure all relevant documentation and applicable fees are received.

By law, we cannot begin processing an application until all required documents and applicable fees are received, regardless of when an applicant first opened their file.

Please note that we are responding to higher-than-normal call and email volumes.

Members and applicants may be able to get more efficient and immediate results through the use of the self-serve options. As such, members and applicants are strongly encouraged to use the self-serve options available on the College’s website.
