Sexual Abuse Prevention Program deadline for Members in Good Standing as of January 1, 2022 and requests for extension

Ontario Certified Teachers (OCTs) who were in good standing as of January 1, 2022, are required to complete the Sexual Abuse Prevention Program by September 15, 2022. The Program is free of charge and can be accessed via your member account on the College website.

You can request a one-time, one-year extension by completing and submitting the Request for Sexual Abuse Prevention Program Extension form, also available in your member account. If your request is granted, your new deadline will be September 15, 2023.

If you have not completed the Program or requested an extension by next month’s deadline, the Sexual Abuse Prevention Program notation on your certificate and public register page will change from To Be Completed to Incomplete. Once that update occurs, the only way to change your notation is to successfully complete the Program.

If you are scheduled to complete the Program during a Professional Activity Day after September 15, 2022 and wish to avoid an “Incomplete” notation on your public register profile, you must still request an extension before next month’s deadline. When filling out the form, select Scheduled to take the Program on a designated Professional Activity Day as coordinated by my employer from the list of reasons.

Applicants for College membership who completed their application before January 1, 2022 and become certified must successfully complete the program by September 15, 2022. You can request a one-time, one-year extension by completing and submitting the Request for Sexual Abuse Prevention Program Extension form, also available in your member account. You must submit your request before the deadline. If your request is granted, your new deadline will be September 15, 2023.

Applicants who completed their application on or after January 1, 2022 must successfully complete the program to be eligible for certification.
