Sexual Abuse Prevention Program

An overwhelming majority of Ontario Certified Teachers (OCTs) have successfully completed the Sexual Abuse Prevention Program, which shows that OCTs take the safety and well-being of students very seriously.

If you did not complete the Program (and did not receive an extension), it is shown as Incomplete on your teaching certificate and your public register profile. Failure to successfully complete the Program may be considered professional misconduct.

The only way to update your status to Complete is to successfully complete the Program, which can be accessed by signing into your member account.

Additional information, including instructions if you have trouble signing into your account, is available on our FAQ page.

Unsure if you successfully completed the Program?

Sign into your member account and look for Programs on the left-side navigation channel.

You can also check your Program status on the public register – scroll down until you see Supplementary Information / Sexual Abuse Prevention Program.

Holocaust education and countering antisemitism

In March, Council approved the development of a new Additional Qualification (AQ) entitled Holocaust Education and Countering Antisemitism.

The College offered an information session on May 18 to support AQ providers in their response to Ontario teachers’ professional learning needs with respect to Holocaust education and countering antisemitism.

The session, attended by over 30 participants representing 50 organizations offering accredited AQ programs, provided an opportunity to learn about:

  • teaching resources available from the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies and Liberation 75
  • the possibility of developing a focused version of an existing AQ to highlight Holocaust education and countering antisemitism.
